The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority is seeking a highly motivated professional to serve as a Land Specialist 1-3. The State’s coastal protection and restoration program encompasses an extensive and diversified mission involving the integration of multiple major environmental and hurricane flood measures contained within the State’s comprehensive coastal Master Plan. Those measures and associated projects create, restore, enhance, protect, and preserve the state’s coastal wetlands, barrier islands, natural ridges and other natural resources vital to the state’s economy and/or the safety of its citizens.
An ideal candidate will possess the following core competencies:
+ Displaying Expertise:The ability to exhibit specialized skills or knowledge gained from experience or training
+ Making Accurate Judgments:The ability to form an opinion objectively and decisively based on relevant information and in accordance with established standards.
+ Negotiating Agreements:The ability to reach a consensus when parties may have conflicting interests or perspectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in property and land rights acquisition, appraisals, or relocation assistance; land title research or abstracting, land surveying or cadastral work; or oil and gas lease negotiations or land work involving plotting and location of well sites and access routes; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Supervise and assist with planning, controlling and implementing land rights and oyster lease acquisition for multiple coastal protection and restoration projects
+ Provide technical recommendations concerning land rights issues relative to assigned coastal restoration projects
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
+ Knowledge of modern land rights and landsman principles and practices
+ Knowledge of modern project management skills
+ Application of advanced experience to answer technical questions relative to assigned coastal restoration projects
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment*
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Land Specialist 1, 2, or 3.
Compensation: The maximum salary for a Land Specialist 3 is $84,302 annually.
*If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may later be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.
