Role Summary:
As a Principal Event Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for driving the strategy and execution of highly complex, enterprise-wide event marketing initiatives with significant business impact. You will operate with complete independence, often tackling ambiguous or undefined challenges where the long-term strategy has yet to be determined. Leveraging your deep specialized expertise and broad business acumen, you will invent, evolve, and simplify event marketing strategies to drive cross-organizational alignment and coherence. You will be trusted to make high-stakes decisions that shape the future direction of Amazon's event marketing efforts.
Key job responsibilities
• Manage the strategy and execution of significantly complex, high-impact event marketing initiatives that span multiple teams and business units
• Define the business problem, marketing objectives and event strategy in the absence of clear direction, drawing on deep specialized expertise and broad business acumen
• Aggregate and synthesize insights from multiple sources to inform innovative, data-driven event marketing strategies that drive long-term customer and business impact
• Assess risks, drive clarity, and foster shared understanding by asking probing questions and challenging assumptions
• Influence organizational priorities, internal/external stakeholders, and technology direction through compelling, data-driven business cases
• Proactively drive executive-level business and strategy reviews to align teams toward coherent and effective event marketing plans
• Identify and eliminate inefficiencies, repetitive processes, and unnecessary event marketing initiatives to accelerate progress and drive operational excellence
• Create and optimize critical mechanisms (e.g. processes, playbooks, tools) to ensure long-term sustainability and scalability of event marketing strategies
• Effectively partner with senior leadership, exercising expert judgement to navigate ambiguity and make high-stakes decisions
• Educate and empower the broader Amazon marketing community by sharing knowledge, best practices and lessons learned
• Play a pivotal role in the career development of others through managing teams, providing coaching and mentorship, promotion assessments and performance feedback

Through customer-obsessed content-driven experiences, we aim to educate, build meaningful connections, and accelerate the adoption of advanced cloud technologies with event attendees. Our events inspire attendees, increase brand awareness and consideration, and deliver measurable results continually raising the bar for event experiences.

Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience
- Experience managing teams
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
- Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)
- Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience in leadership roles, overseeing teams conducting data analysis, process improvements, creative problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading across multiple locales

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $140,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $232,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
