    The Inventory & Property Associate II assigned to the Maine State Police performs inventory management actions related to ordering, procuring, storing, distributing and/or disposing of inventory. It requires independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process and actions taken in accordance with standard procedures. Also required is the ability to perform work requiring lifting up to 50 pounds and/or physical exertion.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    + Receiving and processing requests for MSP uniforms and equipment

    + Selecting purchasing method either by solicitation or by direct purchase with a vendor or manufacturer through extensive research, communication with vendors and requestors, on-line and in-store purchases to ensure the best pricing, availability and quality is needed for each product selection.

    + Planning and implementing the distribution of requested items and meeting delivery deadlines

    + Submitting requests or solicitations through AdvantageME or contacting multiple vendors or manufacturers to determine availability of uniforms and equipment according to specifications

    + This position must also keep the Supply room clean and organized, must accept dozens of shipments weekly, offload trucks when needed with a forklift, meet and greet internal and external customers in person, over the phone and via email.

    + In addition to the procurement of hundreds of thousands of dollars a year of equipment and supplies, this position must maintain and track all assets in an inventory database. This position also needs to reconcile credit card purchases with invoices and shipping papers. This position is responsible for on-line banking and proper documentation for all credit card and advantage purchases

    Minimum qualifications:

    Training, education or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of inventory and property management principles and practices to perform complex work in procuring or selling public wares or property and 2) the ability to use independent decision making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.

     

    All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of:Inventory and Property Assistant and Inventory and Property Associate I.

     

    LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class.)

     

    Some positions may require possession of a valid Class B and/or Class C Maine Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
