Coordinator of Fraternity/Sorority Life and Campus Traditions (ASO I/II)
Wayne State University is searching for an experiencedCoordinator of Fraternity/Sorority Life and Campus Traditions (ASO I/II)at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
Position Summary:
In the spirit of fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and engaged campus culture, the Coordinator is responsible for the leadership and management of all social fraternities and sororities and advising of the related governing councils. The Coordinator leads the fostering of campus traditions through the management and planning of identified campus tradition programs, introduces, plans, and fosters campus pride and spirit programming, and coordinates student volunteer programs, including the advising of Alternative Spring Break Detroit program.
Key Responsibilities
Fraternity/Sorority Life (FSL) Coordination (30%)
+ Serve as the primary university contact for registered social fraternities and sororities, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
+ Provide training and leadership development opportunities for chapter leaders, councils, and members.
+ Collaborate with national organizations and alumni advisors to support the growth and integrity of social fraternities and sororities.
+ Develop, implement, and assist with recruitment programs and policies, conduct chapter evaluations, and support academic and civic engagement initiatives within FSL.
Campus Traditions, Spirit & Pride (25%)
+ Plan, promote, and execute signature campus traditions and events.
+ Lead initiatives that build school pride and foster a sense of belonging across diverse student groups.
+ Collaborate with Athletics, Marketing, and Alumni Affairs on school spirit campaigns.
+ Plan and assist in planning of campus tradition programs.
Student Volunteering & Civic Engagement (20%)
+ Develop and manage a campus-wide volunteer program connecting students and student organizations to local community service opportunities.
+ Partner with community organizations to develop sustainable service projects and annual service days.
+ Advise the Alternative Spring Break Detroit program.
Large Event Supervision (15%)
+ Oversee the planning, logistics, and implementation of large-scale campus events (e.g., Welcome Week, Spring Fest, Cultural Celebrations).
Administrative & Collaborative Responsibilities (10%)
+ Maintain accurate records, assessments, and reports related to all functional areas.
+ Manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relations.
+ Assess area services for continuous improvement and alignment with institutional learning outcomes.
Some evenings and weekends are required.

Salary:
Coordinator of Fraternity/Sorority Life (FSL), Volunteer Programming, and Campus Traditions, Spirit & Pride (Academic Services Officer I) = $53,407.04
Coordinator of Fraternity/Sorority Life (FSL), Volunteer Programming, and Campus Traditions, Spirit & Pride (Academic Services Officer II) = $58,409.64
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree required for ASO I, and master's degree required for ASO II
+ 1-3 years of experience in student activities, Greek Life, event planning, or related areas.
+ Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in co-curricular engagement.
+ Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration or related field. Experience advising Greek-letter organizations and working with national councils. Familiarity with event management software and student engagement platforms. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in student programming.
