Description
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Accountant to manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of properties. This role requires a deep understanding of property management accounting, with direct responsibility for full-charge accounting and financial oversight. The ideal candidate will serve as a key liaison with HOA, Co-op, and Condo Boards, and will support the company’s financial reporting, budgeting, and audit functions.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Perform full-charge accounting for a portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties
+ Prepare and present monthly financial statements to board members and internal leadership
+ Conduct bank reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and general ledger maintenance
+ Coordinate with multiple HOA/Co-op/Condo Boards to review budgets, financials, assessments, and reserves
+ Collaborate with property managers to ensure accurate coding and timely processing of vendor payments and owner receipts
+ Monitor and manage accounts receivable, including assessment collections, delinquencies, and escalations
+ Assist with the annual budget process, reserve study updates, and capital planning
+ Support external audits and tax return preparation by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
+ Maintain and improve internal accounting controls and procedures
+ Prepare and issue year-end financial packages, 1099s, and support annual meeting presentations
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
+ 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in property management, real estate, or multi-entity accounting
+ Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting for associations
+ Proficient in property management accounting software such as Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, Buildium, or similar
+ Experience interacting with HOA/Condo/Co-op Boards and presenting financial data to non-financial stakeholders
+ Detail-oriented with strong analytical, communication, and time-management skills
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
Preferred:
+ CPA or progress toward CPA a plus
+ Experience with capital improvement projects, assessments, and reserve funding
+ Knowledge of local and state property and association regulations
