That’s what it means to be dedicated to better. Job Details We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented Cancer Genetic Counselor to join our team. The successful candidate will provide genetic risk assessment, counseling, and education to individuals and families with a history of cancer. You will play a critical role in helping patients understand their genetic risk, navigate testing options, and make informed decisions regarding cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive genetic risk assessments based on personal and family history of cancer. Educate patients about hereditary cancer syndromes (e.g., BRCA1/2, Lynch syndrome) and implications of genetic testing. Obtain informed consent and coordinate appropriate genetic testing, including interpreting test results, and assessing the chance of disease occurrence and reoccurrence. Deliver post-test counseling and support, explaining results and guiding patients through medical and psychosocial implications, and options for management and prevention. Collaborate with oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, primary care providers, and other health professionals to integrate genetic information into patient care. Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in the medical record including, written and oral correspondence with referring physicians. Participate in case conferences, tumor boards, and multidisciplinary team meetings. Stay current with advancements in cancer genetics and genetic counseling best practices. Assist in the development of educational materials and community outreach programs. May supervise or mentor genetic counseling students or other trainees (optional, based on setting). Qualifications: Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from an ABGC-accredited program. Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG). Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in cancer genetics preferred, but new graduates will be considered. Strong interpersonal, communication, and counseling skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Sensitivity to the emotional, cultural, and ethical aspects of genetic counseling. Preferred Skills: Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records and genetic testing platforms. Experience in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Progeny, and Computer Based Risk Assessment Models required. Fluency in a second language is a plus or experience utilizing a translator. Salary Range USD $43.00 - USD $61.65 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and position location. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
