    _The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job.     Responsibilities:

    GENERAL PURPOSE

    Provides strategic leadership and vision for student advising within the School of Arts and Sciences & Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Science by cultivating relationships with campus partners, as well as with employers and alumni to deepen partnerships and develop opportunities for students and alumni. This position is responsible for programmatic and resource development, implementation and evaluation, as well as advising services to support students’ career exploration, professional development, and experiential learning. This position strategically works with the academic advising and other designated offices to evaluate program support while engaging partners across campus to provide these services as well as educate students on the career development process and opportunities that exist. This role will be leading the Consulting, Finance, Operations and Sales Career Community.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    LEADERSHIP & STRATEGIC PLANNING

    + Supervises and evaluates 2-4 full-time advising staff

    + Helps set the strategic vision for School of Arts and Sciences and Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences advising and career communities; support staff in developing and implementing shared strategic priorities; monitor and report progress toward strategic goals and objectives.

    + Consults and effectively collaborate regularly with office staff to share student and other relevant information and to create/implement services and programs that anticipate or respond to trends in preparation, recruiting and hiring.

    + Researches professional development trends and provide comparative and benchmark information to place office achievements in context. Utilize assessment information to modify programs and services. Regularly measure outcomes of student career preparation programs and services and report results to stakeholders.

    + Helps determine allocation of department operating budget targeting student advising and programming initiatives.

    + Analyzes applicant and outcome data to inform programmatic decisions related to outreach, recruitment, retention, academic advising, experiential learning and application support.

    + Leads and directs several major office-wide administrative functions.

    CAREER & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ADVISING + EDUCATION

    + Advises school students and selected groups of alumni in individual appointments, walk-in and small group advising about exploring professional, career and educational options and in obtaining effective experiential learning, job and further educational or research opportunities.

    + Assists students in exploring career or professional options to further learn about industries of interests and necessary skill development

    + Identifies professional development opportunities for students and coordinate programs utilizing alumni and other content experts.

    + Maintains awareness through collaboration with employer & experiential development staff and Communications Manager to provide up-to-date information related to industry and market trends and to engage students in employer and alumni programming.

    + Develops, contributes, and updates career exploration and development information on the web site; Utilize virtual technologies and resources in the delivery of service to students as appropriate (e.g., web sites, on-line surveys, blogs, podcasts, etc.)

    + Stays current on changing economic and labor conditions and industry trends in the state, region, and nationally.

    + Collaborates with Communications Manager to effectively market opportunities to students and alumni.

    + Creates and presents workshops/programs/outreaches on a variety of career topics to educate and prepare students for the world of work.

    + Participates in admissions events throughout academic year. Available to answer questions or provide information for prospective students.

    + Develops content and conduct informational sessions on a variety of topics to include branding, networking tactics, professional career management, résumé writing, interviewing, job search strategies, ethics in the workplace

    + Researches, develops and delivers original industry-specific programming and include relevant guest speakers including alumni and employers.

    + Works with key stakeholders to create career/industry and employment specific events and workshops that facilitate student learning and skill development.

    + Prepares and deliver presentations for various campus stakeholders (faculty, staff, prospective students, alumni, prospects, student organizations, etc.).

    + Participates in various campus events involving alumni and families to engage those stakeholders in our services and programs.

    + Support assigned cohort of college advisees each academic year over college experience with course selection, academic policies, career education, and other decision making.

    RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

    + Develops understanding of the unique needs within the various programs within the College of Arts and Science & Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; develop programs and resources relevant to those needs and congruent with workforce needs in the region.

    + Serves as liaison to designated academic departments and university departments to assess and meet the needs of our academic stakeholders and to promote collaboration across departments and majors by focusing on exploratory programming.

    + Serves as liaison to a segment of the academic community, providing information about the pursuits of graduates in their disciplines; workplace trends and market changes; and planned initiatives of the Career Center.

    + Maintains relationships with employers, alumni and families as needed to steward extern, intern, full-time and programming opportunities in collaboration with employer and experiential development staff. Through ongoing in-person and phone meetings, build rapport and market skills of students. Work with employer & experiential development staff to discuss strategy and creation of new relationships and expansion of existing relationships.

    + Fosters and maintain cooperative relationships with employers, alumni, parents (as needed), and faculty to create experiential (internship, research, gap year) opportunities for students.

    + Serves on College/University committees as assigned.

    PROJECT MANAGEMENT

    + Provides leadership for, coordination of, or assistance with various special programs and projects in line with strategic planning process (ie: supervising student staff, coordinating graduate assistants, orientation of new staff, etc.).

    + Produces written and video contributions for various online and print media including the Greene Center web site, online guides, published handouts and social media outlets.

    + Cross-Functional Teams and University Initiatives – serve on various cross-functional teams to promote the vision and direction; contribute to the strategic planning to evolve center services and programs.

    + Represents UR and the center in local and national professional associations and conferences to stay current with industry standards and changes, revise programs to reflect trends, and increase the center’s visibility among professionals in the field.

    + Participates in university committees providing representation of the career center on community issues.

    + Plays an active role in the collection of assessment and outcomes data that serves as a driver for strategic decisions within.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    + Bachelor’s degree required

    + 5 years of related experience in higher education, recruitment, workforce development, talent acquisition or other related field required

    + or equivalent combination of education and experience required

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    + Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at UR required

    + Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in the office environment and to interface with a wide array of stakeholders within our campus community required

    + Ability to embrace and drive change and to organize and effectively manage multiple priorities, programs and projects required

    + A growth mindset to planning and solving required

    + Demonstrated exceptional communication competencies (written, verbal, intercultural) required

    + Demonstrated experience leading teams and developing positive relationships, partnerships, and alliances required.

    + Awareness of trends within higher education, career services, employment marketplace and economy required

    + Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)

    + Experience in business development, career education/services, development/advancement, recruitment/HR or other closely related area (preferred)

    + Project management experience (preferred)
