Purchasing Manager

**Location:** East Hartford, CT

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

**Salary:** $70,000–$90,000

We are seeking an experienced and strategic **Purchasing Manager** to lead procurement activities for our contract manufacturing operations specializing in **military-grade electronic assemblies and systems** . This is a critical, hands-on role responsible for sourcing electronic components, managing suppliers, and ensuring compliance with defense industry regulations including **ITAR, DFARS** , and other FAR-related standards.

Key Responsibilities

+ **Strategic Procurement** : Develop sourcing strategies for components, materials, and services supporting defense programs.

+ **Supplier Management** : Identify and manage suppliers with a focus on quality, cost, delivery, and regulatory compliance.

+ **Cost Optimization** : Negotiate pricing and terms to meet cost targets while ensuring product and service quality.

+ **Compliance & Quality Support** : Collaborate with quality teams to monitor supplier performance and drive corrective actions.

+ **ERP Management** : Use ERP system to manage POs, forecasts, and supply chain KPIs.

+ **Cross-Functional Collaboration** : Partner with engineering, sales, and quality to meet customer and program needs.

Qualifications

+ 5–7+ years of purchasing/supply chain experience

+ Strong knowledge of ITAR, DFARS, and MIL-SPEC compliance

+ Experience in defense or aerospace electronics preferred

+ Skilled in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office

+ Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience

+ AS9100/ISO 9001 familiarity

+ Low- to mid-volume/high-mix electronics manufacturing

+ Counterfeit component mitigation practices
