    POSITION SUMMARY:

    COTA's Manager, Vehicle Maintenance (VM) Training performs highly responsible supervisory work leading and managing multiple aspects of training programs for the Vehicle Maintenance department.

     

    Performs other duties in alignment with the COTA Strategic Plan and in support of the organization's vision to Move Every Life Forward.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    + Manages, implements and coordinates training and development activities for the Vehicle Maintenance department. This includes contract development with training providers, development of activities in support of corporate vision and strategic imperatives; workforce education in Maintenance programs, establishing concrete communication channels; developing cross-functional work teams and task forces, and conducting team building workshops, etc.;

    + Develops and maintains a database of departmental training data and materials. Monitors and tests progress of trainees and prepares statistical reports evaluating competency and performance. Records completed work assignments; maintains records and prepares comprehensive reports; and,

    + Collaborate with management to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.

    + Manages the coordination of the VM Apprenticeship Program and ensures training modules align with the Technician levels in the program; provides additional oversight to the Vehicle Maintenance Apprenticeship Program's training, processes and supporting materials.

    + Prepares presentations, reviews, evaluates, analyzes and monitors maintenance training programs and budget; monitors tracking and enrollment for the program; partners with department leadership to ensure technicians are enrolled in training courses; participates in the ATP committee meetings; partners with the Labor Relations team to ensure processes and procedures in the ATP are aligned with the contract.

    + Evaluate and coach training staff performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement, as needed.

    + Works closely with Safety Director to define and develop appropriate training and development needs within the Maintenance department.

    + Makes recommendations on Maintenance policies, methods, and procedures (use of Maintenance manpower, equipment and materials); administers special projects and surveys.

    + Work with Sr. Manager, Vehicle Maintenance and other management staff including Director, Vehicle Maintenance to develop, and quality check work bid for the TWU working at both COTA garages.

    + Oversees the development of internal maintenance subject matter experts (SME) based on knowledge, skills and expertise and provides them with the opportunity to share information, ideas, and concerns; maintains contact with department trainers to discuss the delivery of material.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    + Requires a Bachelor's Degree in related field and five (5) years progressive experience in Vehicle Maintenance training and employee development, including management of such function. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

    + ASE Master Certification preferred.
