    JOB SUMMARY

    The position will be responsible for developing and executing all graphic design needs, concepts and projects for the department of athletics.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Director of Graphic Design will work under the leadership and direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Services & Strategy to support all digital, photography, motion graphics and print needs of the department. The selected candidate will be forward-thinking, with the ability to assist in developing and executing strategic content strategies and creative campaigns in collaboration with multiple departments, including Video Services, Marketing and Communications. The Director of Graphic Design will help lead the Assistant Director of Graphic Design, as well as a team of student interns. This role will work collaboratively across teams to ensure a cohesive look across all assets and bring new design ideas and creative solutions for the growing UConn Athletics brand.

     

    The graphic design content will serve to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders and initiatives including strategic social media content, in-game videoboard content, revenue generation campaigns, brand campaigns, recruiting efforts, facility branding and enhancements, digital assets such as email marketing, advertisements and website content, various traditional print media such as schedule posters, schedule cards, roster cards, credentials and advertisements. The individual will possess highly effective communication skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and is a self-motivated and driven individual who has a passion for applying creativity and innovation to content creation.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    + Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field.

    + Three years of post-graduate experience producing and managing multimedia graphic design content.

    + Proficient experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).

    + Demonstrated knowledge of cohesive branding principles.

    + Proficient experience in social media content creation and execution.

    + Comprehensive knowledge of general graphic design principles, typography and color theory as well as production process for print and digital media.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Experience in collegiate athletics, professional sports, or a university setting.

    + Experience leading a professional design team and interns/student workers.

    + Skilled in photography and photo editing software.

    + Experience in animation/motion graphics, such as Adobe After Effects.

    + Experience with web design, including HTML and CSS.

    This is a full-time, permanent position. Relocation assistance is not available.
