Bridge and Facilities Maintenance
The purpose of this position is to Serve as the statewide electrical and electronics expert on movable bridges, pump stations, and tunnels. Troubleshoots and repair the most difficult electrical and electronic issues on these facilities in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC). Assists district electricians in troubleshooting, repairs, evaluation of overall control and power systems health, and augments staff for short-term vacancies.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience or training in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR
Three years of experience or training in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software); OR
Possession of a CompTIA A+ Certification plus one of the following:
1. Two years of experience in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR
2. Two years of experience in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software).
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every six semester hours earned from an accredited college or university in electronics or computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess an appropriate Federal Communications Commission (FCC) radio-telephone license when working with marine and aviation transmitting equipment or with radar.

Job Duties and Other Information
+ Serves as the statewide subject matter expert on all electrical and electronic systems for all state-owned movable bridges, pump stations, and tunnels.
+ Evaluates electrical and electronic systems to determine their condition and to confirm their ability to function under normal and emergency conditions.
+ Physically repairs items where possible and reports back to the Movable Bridge Maintenance Manager (Engineer 7) for those that require additional personnel or funds beyond the position’s spending limit. Independently coordinates with district offices for any necessary operations, demonstrations, and traffic.
+ Performs on site reviews of electrical systems to determine whether an adequate level of maintenance is being performed.
+ Monitors electrical projects administered by Section 51, working with district construction offices to insure that all work is according to plans, Departmental policies and standards, and appropriate electrical codes.
+ Works within district offices to augment staff electrician shortages as required until vacancies are filled. May be required to cover overnight on-call shifts for emergency repairs/technical assistance.
