Are you a night owl with a passion for veterinary care? VetUrgency, a BluePearl Veterinary Partner, is seeking an experienced Part-Time Veterinary Technician for an evening and weekend schedule.

This role is perfect for veterinary technicians who either want to dip their toe into emergency medicine or are tired of the caseload and staffing stressors of the ER/ICU. The perfect candidate will work well independently and in groups, has strong triage instincts, and enjoys learning and mentoring. At VetUrgency, we build each other up!

**Schedule:** Thursday and Friday 6pm-12am, Sunday 12pm-12am

**Pay:** $23.21 - 34.51 / hour + competitive shift differentials

_This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool._

We offer **competitive shift differential** pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

+ Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = **+$4.00/hr** . Shift Differential

+ Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = **+$4.00/hr.** Shift Differential

+ Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = **+$5.50/hr.** Shift Differential

VetUrgency was founded to fill a void in the pet care options available to the community. A need existed for an after hours and weekend option that serves as a middle ground between the services provided by primary care veterinarians and a full scale emergency facility. VetUrgency’s goal is to compliment the services offered by community veterinarians by ensuring prompt and quality care for their patients when there is a need for immediate care and their offices are closed. We believe that efficiently facilitating care at a convenient time for owners will prevent pets from developing more serious issues that may require advanced medical care.

As a Patient Care Technician, some of your responsibilities will include assisting with physical exams on patients, preparing supplies for treatments and procedures, performing in-house lab work (Idexx and Heska), and monitoring patients during sedated or anesthetic procedures. Good communication skills and compassion is a must. The right candidate will be comfortable assisting with treatments, educating clients, fielding phone calls, and pitching in when the team needs help.

As a Veterinary Technician, you will:

+ Triage cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.

+ Assist the doctor with creating patient treatment plans and thoroughly explaining to owners.

+ Monitor hospitalized patients.

+ Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.

+ Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.

+ Assist with phlebotomy and intravenous catheters.

+ Identify patients at risk for arrest and assist with CPR.

+ Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.

+ Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
