    Department Summary:

    MITRE’s Offensive Operations & Effects department, part of the Cyber Operations & Effects Innovation Center, enables cyber operations by applying software and hardware techniques and solutions. Our evaluations, rapid prototypes, and tools development provide unprecedented capabilities designed to be applied to real-world missions. Our experts provide cyber capabilities including support to operations, reverse engineering, and digital forensics expertise, while drawing on other expertise as required for specific missions or adversaries. One area of focus is applying data science, AI and autonomy, and ML methods to technology and operations across the spectrum of activities in Cyber Operations.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    MITRE is seeking strong technical candidates with a background in digital forensics, technical exploitation, and cyber operations, to join the division’s senior technical staff representing the department’s focus area of digital forensics. This role will focus on setting direction for the division and influencing MITRE Labs and direct work programs, internal and sponsor research, and capability development for national security and law enforcement missions.

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience in cyber ops and/or the digital forensics domain.

    + Technical experience applying the latest digital forensics techniques across a variety of devices.

    + Must be US citizen with a TS clearance.

    + Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and a keen desire to learn.

    + An open attitude to promoting the work of others.

    + This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Strong familiarity with operating systems such as Linux and Mac

    + Proficient in prototyping using Python

    + Focus on the storage and retrieval of data on mobile, embedded, and/or loT devices

    + Proficiency with mobile app programming languages and scripting tools (e.g. Java, Objective-C, Swift, Python, C, C++, Go)

    + Ability to work independently to learn new technologies, languages, platforms, etc.

    + Knowledge of software/hardware vulnerabilities and exploitation

    + Familiarity with one or more environments/sponsors operating in the offensive/digital forensics domains

    + Familiarity with operational Cyber concepts and objectives

    + Proficiency with operational digital forensic concepts and objectives

    + Strong familiarity with network forensics, pcap analysis, technical acquisition across many device types

    + Familiarity with database systems (e.g. MySQL, Postgres, SQLite)

    + Strong familiarity with internals of ARM platforms such as Android and/or iOS

    + Strong familiarity with reverse engineering obfuscated or binary files

    + Able to obtain TS/SCI Clearance

    Salary compensation range and midpoint:

    $172,500 - $215,500 - $258,500 Annual
