    The UW Combined Fund Drive (UWCFD) is a dynamic workplace giving program that empowers and engages employees to enrich our communities through philanthropy, education and volunteerism.

     

    The UW Combined Fund Drive has an outstanding opportunity for full-time, temporary campaign assistants, needed from early September through early December.

     

    Campaign assistants make a positive impact in the community by developing and implementing strategies to maximize workplace giving—from developing fundraising strategies and supporting volunteers to cultivating relationships with our employee donors in assigned areas of the UW community. The ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks, manage multiple projects, and work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently are key.

     

    This is an opportunity to develop and hone skills in relationship building, advocacy, customer service, project management, public speaking, and team building. You will also gain valuable contacts, community knowledge, be a part of a positive and supportive team environment and help the team shift from an in-person to a virtual campaign.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under the supervision of the Director of Employee Social Impact Programs, this position is primarily responsible for supporting department campaign coordinators by:

    • Providing excellent customer service to nonprofit organizations and employees who serve as volunteer campaign coordinators for their departments over the phone, in-person and electronically

    • Implementing workplace fundraising campaign strategies; including effectively engaging the UW community through in person and online communications, social media and virtual connections

    • Have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate with diverse individuals at all levels, both internally and externally

    • Assist with drafting, editing, and sharing electronic communications in a variety of channels, including social media, blog and email

    • Working collaboratively and respectfully as part of the campaign team and attending all assigned trainings, meetings, events and executing campaign tasks, including:

    o Coordinating and supporting meetings, trainings, workshops, and other speaking opportunities

    o Work with coordinators in running campaigns including training, event planning, public speaking, coordination of small and large group presentations and team building

    o Representing the campaign at meetings and presentations to cultivate awareness, build relationships and promote positive interactions with program opportunities

    • On-site work duties may include the delivery of campaign collateral and planning and/or implementing campuswide and departmental campaign events including logistics and cash handling

    o Maintaining the integrity of department data and employee information in a confidential manner

    o Maintaining calendars, creating reports, performing data entry, and assisting with mailings

    o Drafting documents, updating spreadsheets and data entry

    • Analyzing assigned department’s prior campaign efforts at the beginning of the campaign and at campaign close, and maintaining a detailed account of all coordinator contact and activities throughout the campaign

    • Travel to University worksites to distribute program materials, facilitate events and conduct outreach as needed

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    High school graduation or equivalent

    AND

    Two years of clerical experience.

     

    Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to organize and manage your time while focusing on time sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced environment

    • Ability to work independently and willingness to take initiative

    • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and community while maintaining positive customer relationships

    • Ability to pivot and think and plan creatively in light of external situations

    • Excellent judgment and high level of professionalism in handling sensitive information

    • Self-directed; Critical and innovative problem solving

    • Proficient with the use of digital meeting platforms, social media and Microsoft Office, including; Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, Zoom and databases

    • Fundraising, development and/or sales experience

    • Ability to provide hands-on support to program volunteers

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree with work experience

    • Experience fostering creativity and problem solving

    • Experience with workplace giving or nonprofit fundraising

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • This is a temporary position; duration will be approximately 3 to 4 months starting in early September

    • Ability to efficiently and effectively transport materials and travel locally to University sites

    • May be required to lift/move up to 25 pounds
