Description

Robert Half is partnering with a leading greater New Orleans construction company in search of a Director of Accounting. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the financial leadership of a growing construction company with a strong presence in the Gulf Coast region. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, expertise in accounting operations, and a passion for team development to help drive the organization’s success.

Responsibilities:

• In partnership with the Controller, lead the accounting team in daily operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.

• Oversee job costing processes and ensure accurate tracking of financial data across projects.

• Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures to ensure timely and precise financial reporting.

• Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company’s long-term growth objectives.

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and industry-specific financial regulations and standards.

• Provide mentorship and training to accounting staff to foster growth and achieve departmental goals.

• Collaborate with senior leadership to deliver financial insights that support data-driven decision-making.

• Evaluate and recommend improvements to accounting systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Prepare and present detailed financial reports to internal stakeholders and external partners.

• Monitor and manage financial performance metrics to support the organization’s strategic goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA a plus

• A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within construction or project-driven industries.

• Strong knowledge of job costing, financial reporting, and construction-specific accounting software.

• Familiarity with local and state tax regulations, particularly those relevant to the Gulf Coast region.

• Exceptional leadership and team management skills with a focus on collaboration and innovation.

• Proven expertise in month-end close processes, general ledger management, and financial statement preparation.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively interact with executives, teams, and external partners.

• Demonstrated ability to drive financial growth and manage operations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
