    Job Description

    Role: Purchasing Coordinator

     

    Job Summary: Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for procuring all supplies and materials needed by the facility at competitive prices and terms. This includes maintaining appropriate inventory levels to support production and business needs, conducting market analysis of raw materials, and working closely with vendors, internal departments, and accounts payable to ensure an efficient procurement-to-payment process.

    Job Responsibilities

    + Analyze market conditions to assess material availability and identify cost-effective procurement strategies

    + Locate and evaluate vendors for materials, equipment, and supplies

    + Negotiate and communicate with suppliers to secure favorable terms

    + Implement purchasing and contract management policies and procedures

    + Participate in developing specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials

    + Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies, services, and equipment

    + Review purchase orders and contracts for compliance with company policies

    + Maintain records of goods ordered and received

    + Ensure timely delivery of purchased items according to purchase orders

    + Collaborate with the Maintenance Coordinator for spare parts and maintenance support

    + Administer online purchasing systems and ensure accurate data in inventory control systems

    + Oversee disposal of surplus materials

    + Provide leadership to the manufacturing clerk to ensure data accuracy in plant operations

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree required; Business Administration or Accounting preferred

    + Minimum 3 years of relevant purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

    + Experience with ERP systems; JD Edwards preferred

    + Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills

    + Ability to prioritize and work effectively in a team-oriented environment
