Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Certified Medical Assistant functions as an important member of the healthcare teams by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients’ care, comfort, and safety. The individual performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System’s (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

*Schedule is M-F; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Includes outreach*

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

_For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation._

**Minimum Required:** Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with AAMA or RMA, certified required. Documented successful completion of the following courses (of their recognized course equivalent):

+ Medical Terminology

+ Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease

+ Pharmacology

**Preferred/Optional:** Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license awarded by the State of Wisconsin.

EXPERIENCE

**Minimum Required:** None

**Preferred/Optional:** Experience in healthcare.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

_The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position._

**Minimum Required:** Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire and one of the following:

+ Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification awarded by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

+ Registered Medical Assistant registration from the American Medical Technologist (AMT)

**Preferred/Optional:** Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license awarded by the State of Wisconsin.
