    **Additional Information:** This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Fontainebleau Development. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment.     Scope of Position

     

    The Assistant Director of Banquets is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the entire Banquet department in the absence of the Director of Banquets, which will consist of over 121,000 square feet of conference space. This leader will be a liaison between banquets and culinary, conference services, and stewarding. The director will administer the successful planning, organization, and coordination of all banquet floor activities including exceptional service execution, labor forecasting, and control scheduling.

    Responsibilities

    Ensure the property is apprised of all groups that will impact property operations.

     

    Ensure meeting space and corresponding heart of the house areas are cleaned and maintained.

     

    Ensure furniture and equipment are maintained and inventory levels are kept in accordance with corporate guidelines.

     

    Work with the culinary team to ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.

     

    Maintain inventories to maximize customer satisfaction and revenue opportunities.

     

    Review property-specific event operations annually and make appropriate adjustments.

     

    Consult with customers to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and conventions.

     

    Work directly with high-profile and high-revenue groups to ensure an excellent customer experience for all customers.

     

    Communicate the vision for service delivery in Banquets to ensure the guest is serviced from arrival to departure.

     

    Ensure department compliance with the JW Marriott Turnberry Miami Resort and Spa policies, procedures, and programs.

     

    Any other reasonable request as required by management.

    Requirements

    Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment.

     

    Minimum of 3 years of progressive management experience in a luxury hotel operation.

     

    Knowledge of Meeting Matrix, CI-TY, Excel, Word, and Micros system.

     

    Great leadership and communication skills.

     

    Effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.

     

    Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.

     

    Able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, ever-changing environment.

     

    Effective at handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.

     

    Possesses outstanding guest service skills, professional presentation, and sophisticated communication skills.

    Education

    High school diploma or GED or 2-year degree from an accredited university in hotel and restaurant management; 3 years’ experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area.

     

    Skills and Abilities

     

    Ability to communicate in the English language. A second language is a plus.

     

    Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.

     

    Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques, and use of equipment/machinery.

     

    Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

    Physical Requirements

    Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

     

    Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.

     

    Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout the shift.
