Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Description
The Medical Assistant position involves providing comprehensive support to healthcare providers by escorting patients, recording vital information, obtaining necessary records, preparing exam rooms, assisting in procedures, and performing various administrative duties.
Responsibilities
+ Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
+ Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
+ Obtain all necessary patient records as required by physicians prior to treatment or procedures.
+ Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
+ Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
+ Respond to patient calls as requested.
+ Perform administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, and reception as requested by supervisor or physician.
+ Alert nurse or physician of abnormal vitals and any important information provided by the patient.
+ Collect inbound meaningful use data.
+ Document flu vaccination and initial height and weight.
+ Print medication list for patients and assist with filling out disability forms.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in handling oncology patients.
+ Ability to accurately record vitals and patient data.
+ Experience in medical assisting and patient care.
+ Knowledge of electronic health records.
+ Capability in healthcare triage.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school graduate or equivalent.
+ Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
+ 1+ years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
+ Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
+ Compliance with state regulations requiring specific certifications for Medical Assistants.
Work Environment
The position is based in an oncology clinic where the work environment may involve exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations common to an oncology/hematology clinic.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
