Preferred Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field.

+ 2+ years of human resources or customer service experience.

+ Strong understanding of FMLA and other applicable leave laws and protections.

Job Summary

Administer leave requests and accommodations for U.S. and Canadian associates, ensuring compliance with FMLA, state and local leave laws, and disability plans. Partner with employees, managers, HR, and vendors to facilitate a smooth leave process and minimize disruptions.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

+ Serves as the primary contact for leave-related inquiries, collaborating with managers, HR partners, Payroll, and vendors to resolve issues and ensure compliance.

+ Guides employees through the leave process, explaining eligibility, documentation requirements, responsibilities, and return-to-work expectations.

+ Administers leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, disability, military leave, and life insurance claims, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

+ Monitors and escalates leave-related issues with third-party vendors, identifying discrepancies and minimizing disruptions for associates.

+ Maintains accurate records, preserves confidentiality, stays current on leave laws, and attends required training, including HIPAA.

+ Oversees benefits-related leave processes, including past-due premium reporting, coverage termination notifications, and supplemental pay calculations for military leave.

+ Assists in drafting and updating company leave policies, knowledge articles, and training materials for HR Business Partners.

+ Evaluates and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy while managing leave-related HR communications, such as Annual Enrollment updates.

Nature and Scope

+ Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.

+ Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor.

+ None.

Work Environment

+ Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

+ Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

+ Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

+ HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
