This position operates a variety of heavy equipment for the purposes of road/bridge construction and maintenance in District 61/Unit 520 of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Highway Foreman 1.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Operates skid steers, rollers, jet air patcher, 72+-hp tractors with 15ft. bat wing mowers, and tractor mounted slope mower. Installs and maintains temporary traffic control devices and serves as a flag person during traffic control operations. Uses a variety of hand tools such as: shovels, rakes, jackhammer, demolition saw, chain saw, string trimmer, and pole saw. Performs manual task such as pothole patching, manual cutting of bush and grass, ditch digging, cleaning buildings, assisting in mud jack operations, cutting trees, removing dead animal carcasses, collecting litter, cleaning & repairing of Asphaltic Concrete and Portland Cement Concrete Pavements as well as bridge decks, and other manual tasks as need to accomplish the department’s mission.
+ Performs minor repairs, services, preventative maintenance, and cleans equipment in accordance with operator’s manual and manufacture’s recommendations to keep equipment operating efficiently and safely.

Compensation: The Mobile Equipment Operator 1 and 2 positions are both eligible for premium pay of up to $1.00 per hour.
