    What You'll Do:

    + Provide high-quality instruction to secondary students in a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, a high-level of engagement and eagerness to continue to learn and grow;

    + Work collaboratively with other teachers and community members to ensure continued learning of relevant skills and authentic application of those skills;

    + Support students as they develop a strong work ethic, pride in their work and the foundational skills employers have identified;

    + Willingness to develop/grow/promote the program to include all learners, differentiating instruction to ensure all students experience success. Must hold a commitment to promoting equity, practicing cultural responsiveness, and creating inclusive environments.

     

    Candidates must be comfortable working with area healthcare professionals in all disciplines for the purpose of arranging multiple internship/shadowing placements for their students.

    Job Qualifications

    Required:

    + Current NYS Teaching Certification in one of the following: Biology 7-12, Health Education, or related area

    + If a candidate does not possess a current NYS Teaching Certification, the candidate will need the ability to obtain the CTE Transitional A Certificate in Practical Nursing, or related health field. Requirements for the Transitional A certificate are listed on the homepage of the NYS Education Department Teaching Certification under "Certification Requirements" in the category of "Career and Technical" Teacher (Health Sciences.
