Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Oracle Developer with strong DBA capabilities and backend development experience to support commercial loan systems within the ICS domain. This role requires deep expertise in PL/SQL development, Oracle DB administration, and the ability to work with complex SQL workflows. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical excellence, problem-solving abilities, and financial services experience—preferably with a background in Commercial Loans.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Develop and optimize PL/SQL and SQL code to support backend processes.
+ Perform Oracle database administration including monitoring, performance tuning, and backup/restore activities.
+ Collaborate with technology leadership, engineers, and cross-functional support teams to implement solutions that meet evolving business needs.
+ Conduct infrastructure and systems design, user requirement analysis, and test planning including integration and UAT.
+ Guide and mentor junior engineers and review technical documentation and proposals.
+ Stay current with financial services technologies and promote industry best practices.
+ Participate in vendor management and support third-party tool integrations.
+ Ensure data integrity, high availability, and adherence to internal risk and regulatory standards.
+ Promote a diverse and inclusive team culture aligned with the M&T Bank brand.
+ Perform additional related duties as required.
Scope of Responsibilities:
+ Serve as a specialist in a group of technologies and services supported within the organization.
+ Translate business and functional requirements into high-quality technical implementations.
+ Independently manage complex tasks and contribute to multiple concurrent projects.
+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of bank systems and industry technologies.
+ Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and alignment.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
+ Mentor and coach junior engineers, technicians, and integrators.
+ Provide guidance on technical standards, code reviews, and best practices.
+ Participate in team development, planning, and resource coordination.
Education and Experience Required:
+ Combined minimum of 8 years of higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management, and/or architecture.
+ Strong knowledge of the system development lifecycle, infrastructure lifecycle, IT Service Management, and vendor best practices.
Education and Experience Preferred:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
+ Minimum of 8 years of experience in a technical engineering role involving infrastructure design, data management, and application development.
+ Experience in financial services industry; Commercial Loans experience highly preferred.
+ Expertise in:
+ Advanced Oracle PL/SQL and SQL development.
+ Oracle DBA tools, performance tuning, and monitoring.
+ Data modeling and backend workflows in financial systems.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
