    Job Title: Saw Operator

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Saw Operator to work on the 2nd shift from 2pm-10:30pm or 3rd shift from 10pm-6:30am in a non-climate controlled environment. The role involves cutting metals to order specifications using band saws and metal saws. The metals handled are primarily aviation grade, with some marine presence. This position requires proficiency in forklift operation for material movement.

    Responsibilities

    + Expertly operate one or more saws in the service center.

    + Process orders according to customer cut-to-size specifications.

    + Ensure orders are processed per specification and on time.

    + Pull and stage material to be processed at the saw.

    + Retrieve material from plate racks using a forklift.

    + Measure material to exact requirements.

    + Enter data for specifications onto appropriate forms for computer entry.

    + Safely operate cranes, forklifts, and apply safe rigging.

    + Assist in packaging and receiving shipments and in weekly inventory counts.

    + Use precision tools such as tape measures, micrometers, nibblers, and calipers.

    + Maintain a clean and organized immediate work area.

    + Adhere to safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.

    + Follow all handbook policies and procedures.

    Essential Skills

    + High school diploma or equivalent.

    + Two or more years of experience or training in saw operation and machinery.

    + One or more years in the metals service center industry.

    + Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    + Good written and oral communication skills.

    + Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.

    + Ability to measure with different tools and read/calculate numbers and data.

    + Capability to work independently and accept direction.

    + Integrity and positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers.

    + Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + One or more years of experience in the metals service center industry.

     

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment is a comfortable warehouse that is not climate controlled, featuring heaters in the winter and open doors with large fans in the summer. Our company has a close-knit team of around 35 employees.

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $39520.00 - $43680.00/yr.
