    We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Geotechnical Field Technician responsible for conducting field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. This role involves working on construction sites, collecting samples, performing in-place testing, and preparing detailed reports for engineers and project managers.

     

    As a Field Technician II you will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining practical field experience, developing technical skills, and contributing to critical projects that impact communities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and thrives in outdoor work environments, solving challenges in real time and collaborating with a team. This position requires frequent travel to job sites and offers excellent opportunities for growth, technical training, and career advancement in a dynamic industry.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform field testing of soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, and other materials according to ASTM, AASHTO, and other industry standards.

    + Collect and prepare soil and material samples for laboratory analysis.

    + Conduct density testing using nuclear gauge and other soil compaction methods.

    + Perform concrete field testing, including slump, air content, unit weight, and making test cylinders.

    + Operate and maintain field testing equipment.

    + Record and report test results accurately and promptly.

    + Communicate findings with project managers, engineers, and site personnel.

    + Adhere to safety procedures and company policies while working on-site.

    + Assist in geotechnical drilling and subsurface investigations, if required.

    + Perform other duties as assigned to support project goals and company initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    + Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.

    + Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.

    + Excellent organizational and time management skills.

    + Proficiency in basic computer applications

    + Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

    + Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

    + Ability to pass a background check screening.

    + Ability to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I

    + NICET Level I or II in Construction Materials Testing

    + OSHA 10/30-Hour Certification

    + Experience with nuclear density gauge testing (Troxler Certification)

    Physical Demands & Work Environment

    + Ability to lift and/or carry 35 to 75 lbs. up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion.

    + Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods.

    + Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment.

    + Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections.

    + Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams.

    + Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant, and peripheral vison, depth vision, and ability to focus) smell, hear, touch (use hands to reach climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit).
