Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the Director of Laboratory and Laboratory Manager, the Phlebotomy Supervisor coordinates and supervises laboratory phlebotomy activities within assigned areas in a manner designed to increase work efficiency and accuracy. Also, provides clinical laboratory services to patients in accordance with accepted practices and Departmental and Hospital standards of care.

+ Is responsible for the scheduling, and direct supervision of phlebotomists/laboratory assistants.

+ Investigates and resolves problems/complaints which involve phlebotomy or specimen collection from physicians’ patients, and their families, nursing, and other laboratory or hospital personnel.

+ Ensure that laboratory policies and procedures are being followed by phlebotomists.

+ Communicates to the Laboratory Director all issues concerning phlebotomy or specimen collection and works closely with the Director to resolve such issues.

+ Completes special projects as assigned, by Laboratory Director and/or Manager.

+ Must be capable of making consistent decisions based on laboratory policies and procedures.

+ Other duties as assigned

Qualifications you will need:

Completion of an approved Phlebotomy Training Program

Must have current BLS certificate from the American Heart Association

2 - 5 years working experience in a hospital setting preferred
