    Our client is seeking a **Principal Engineer** with deep expertise in **Ultra High Vacuum (UHV)** systems to lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced vacuum technologies. This role offers the opportunity to drive innovation, mentor top engineering talent, and shape the next generation of high-performance scientific equipment.

     

    **Job Title:** Principal Engineer UHV

    **Location:** Ramsey, MN

    **Salary:** 130-190k

    Key Responsibilities

    + Lead complex design and development projects involving UHV systems, components, and assemblies.

    + Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cross-functional engineering teams.

    + Drive innovation in vacuum system architecture, materials, and integration techniques.

    + Serve as subject matter expert for UHV design principles, troubleshooting, and system performance optimization.

    + Collaborate with product management, operations, and customers to define technical requirements and product specifications.

    + Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation of UHV components and systems.

    + Ensure designs meet required safety, performance, and reliability standards.

    + Prepare and deliver technical documentation, presentations, and design reviews.

    Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).

    + Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience with a focus on vacuum systems, including at least 5 years with **Ultra High Vacuum** .

    + Deep understanding of UHV technologies: vacuum chambers, seals, pumps, materials compatibility, outgassing, and leak detection.

    + Hands-on experience with vacuum modeling tools and CAD systems (SolidWorks, ANSYS, COMSOL, etc.).

    + Proven leadership in multi-disciplinary engineering projects and mentoring junior engineers.

    + Strong communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and external stakeholders.

    Preferred Experience:

    + Semiconductor, medical device, or scientific instrumentation industry background.

    + Familiarity with cleanroom environments and high-precision manufacturing.

    + Experience working within ISO 13485 or similar regulated environments.
