Job Description
This is a contracted appointment that may last up to two years in duration. Paid internships occur throughout the State of Michigan.
This position is responsible for reviewing documents and PowerPoint presentations for digital accessibility requirements, updating content to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) public website, proofreading news releases and other documents, and developing content to post and respond to inquiries on social media accounts. This position also is responsible for preparing content for a variety of communication channels including web, email, print, social media, video, and presentations, maintaining records and preparing reports/correspondence related to work, and performing other work as assigned. This position is required to complete training for digital accessibility to ensure new and existing documents follow federal standards for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

Possession of a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, broadcasting, telecommunications, advertising, communication arts, marketing, public relations, or a related field.

OR Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience equivalent to a Communications Representative may be substituted for the education requirement.
