The Westchester Educational Opportunity Center (WEOC), a division of Westchester Community College, is seeking experienced, energetic, innovative, results oriented professionals to join its team. Located in Yonkers, NY, this non-traditional adult education institution provides tuition-free academic and vocational training to eligible underserved adults seeking to develop basic academic and vocational skills competencies and credentials needed for enrollment in college and/or entry into the workforce.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Seeking energetic and engaging Adjunct Faculty to teach Medical Billing and Coding classes. The incumbent will deliver a curriculum that prepares students to qualify for for employment in entry-level positions such as medical coder/biller, medical biller/customer service representative, medical records clerk/assistant, and insurance claims clerk. The incumbent will also:
+ Prepare and update course materials to ensure alignment with current industry standards and certification requirements.
+ Assess students' progress and provide constructive feedback to students and Program Administrator.
+ Foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment that addresses the diverse needs of students.
In addition, the instructor will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully pass a national billing and coding certification exam. Successful candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population and work effectively with students who have barriers to employment.
Job Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Master's Degree in the field to be taught from a recognized college or university and 1 year of practical experience. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required. The successful candidate will have the ability to establish a rapport with students and maintain an environment that supports learning and promotes student retention. Experience using an LMS is also required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience teaching adult learners and at-risk populations strongly preferred. Highly organized and detail-oriented candidates are also strongly preferred.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2025
WORK SCHEDULE: Classes may be offered day or evening.
HOURLY RATE OF PAY: The hourly rate of pay is $93.84. No benefits. This position is fully grant funded.
