Description We are looking for a skilled Payroll Tax Accountant to join our team in San Francisco, California. This is a long-term contract position suited for an experienced individual with expertise in multi-state payroll tax compliance. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and bring strong problem-solving skills to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payroll tax notices by liaising with government agencies and internal teams.
• Conduct detailed reconciliations and analysis of payroll tax issues to support compliance efforts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate payroll processing and tax reporting.
• Monitor and track tax notices, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
• Utilize tools like ADP Workforce Now and SmartCompliance to streamline payroll tax operations.
• Provide support for payroll processing across domestic and international locations as needed.
• Analyze and manipulate data using Excel to aid audits and reconciliation processes.
• Work closely with stakeholders to maintain compliance with multi-state payroll regulations.
• Contribute to the development of best practices for payroll tax compliance within the organization.
• Coordinate with Workday analysts and other team members to optimize payroll tax workflows. Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll and tax compliance, ideally within a mid-to-large size organization.
• Proficiency in multi-state and international payroll tax regulations and compliance procedures.
• Advanced Excel skills for data manipulation and analysis.
• Familiarity with accounting software systems such as ADP Workforce Now and SmartCompliance.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience with global payroll systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of compliance processes, including reviewing tax notices and resolving discrepancies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external agencies.
