Description
Are you passionate about ensuring employees have access to comprehensive, meaningful benefits while contributing to a mission-focused organization? Our client, a growing nonprofit organization, is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Compensation & Benefits Specialist to join their team. In this role, you’ll administer and oversee benefits programs that support the well-being and satisfaction of the organization’s dedicated staff.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Administer and manage the organization’s employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits.
+ Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries, eligibility, claims resolution, and enrollment processes.
+ Educate employees on available benefit options, ensuring they understand and can make informed decisions about their coverage.
+ Coordinate open enrollment periods, prepare materials, and deliver information sessions to staff as needed.
+ Work closely with insurance providers and vendors to resolve any issues and maintain strong working relationships.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations such as Affordable Care Act (ACA), COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA.
+ Maintain and update benefits records, keeping information secure and accurate using the organization’s HRIS system.
+ Assist HR leadership in evaluating and proposing improvements to current benefits packages to ensure competitiveness and alignment with employee needs.
Requirements
+ 3+ years of experience in employee benefits administration, preferably in the nonprofit sector or a related environment.
+ Strong understanding of benefits laws and compliance requirements, including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA.
+ Proficiency in HRIS systems and strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
+ Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex benefits information for employees.
+ Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks with deadlines.
+ A customer service mindset coupled with an understanding of maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive employee data.
+ SHRM or CEBS certification (preferred but not required).
