Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Description
The lab technician plays a crucial role in ensuring eggs are set according to customer or management specifications. This position involves recording relevant information on order sheets, preparing incubation tags, monitoring temperature and humidity levels, and candling eggs to pack orders as specified by customers. The technician selects appropriate eggs for breeder stock and sets eggs for flock replacement and bird sales. They complete and distribute necessary incubation paperwork and input all incubation data into spreadsheets. Cleaning incubators and associated equipment, performing weekly fumigation, maintaining biosecurity, and conducting environmental sampling of incubators are essential tasks. Additional duties may be assigned as required.
Responsibilities
+ Set eggs according to customer or management specifications.
+ Record appropriate information on the order sheet, including date, flock number, and quantity.
+ Prepare incubation tags for orders.
+ Monitor temperature and humidity levels of each machine.
+ Candle eggs and pack incubated egg orders according to customer specifications.
+ Select appropriate eggs for breeder stock.
+ Set eggs for flock replacement and bird sales as required.
+ Complete and distribute all required incubation paperwork.
+ Input all incubation data into appropriate spreadsheets.
+ Clean incubators and associated equipment with appropriate solutions; perform weekly fumigation, maintaining biosecurity.
+ Perform environmental sampling of incubators and complete associated paperwork.
+ Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) preferred.
+ 2 years of work experience, preferably in a processing or poultry farm environment.
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed.
Work Environment
The role involves physical demands, including frequently lifting/moving flats of eggs weighing up to 30 pounds and regularly lifting/moving cases of eggs weighing up to 60 pounds. The technician must constantly position themselves to access and inspect eggs and assess their condition from various distances within the incubation area. Regular operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer, is required. The technician must be able to provide and receive information through various technologies, media, sources, and contacts, accurately exchanging information in these situations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
