    LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking highly skilled applicants for the position of Operating Engineer Master in the Preventive Maintenance Shop. There are multiple vacancies.

     

    The starting rate of pay is $21.05 per hour with an additional $1 Longevity Pay, $2 Shift Differential and $3 weekend Pay for hours worked only. Rate of pay may be adjusted dependent upon applicants’ experience and qualifications.

     

    Must be available for scheduled shift work after regular working hours and during holidays.

    Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    + Performs preventive maintenance tasks on building mechanical equipment and components

    + Performs preventive maintenance tasks on pumps, motors, control systems, piping and other equipment

    + Operates, monitors and controls system wide output

    + Operates building mechanical systems including firing up steam boilers, starting and stopping chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, refrigeration and HVAC equipment

    + Perform minor projects as assigned on the entire campus that may include pipefitting, mechanical equipment, electrical circuits and painting

    + Takes immediate action to personally stop unsafe acts if delay to inform supervisor may allow accident to occur

    + Performs chemical and softener tests

    + Blows down boilers

    + Assist other trades with preventive maintenance tasks

    Minimum Qualifications

    Three years of experience or training in the operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

    For those positions in which incumbents will be working with and handling refrigerants, possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians will be required (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).
