Summary:

Under supervision of an RN, the Cardiac Telemetry Tech assists with clinical care by monitoring and recording cardiac rhythms.

Responsibilities:

+ Documents and interprets patient’s heart rhythm and rate by utilizing telemetry recordings. Identifies patient arrhythmias/abnormalities or significant changes from baseline and reports changes immediately to the assigned nurse.

+ Alerts nursing staff in the event ofarrhythmias/abnormalities or significant changes from baseline.

+ Issues telemetry equipment to patients newly admitted to unit. Maintains inventory ofand tracks issued equipment.

+ Coordinates with outside vendor support to maintain and service telemetry equipment.

+ Tracks and ensures continuity of telemetry, recording patient leaving unit or disconnecting leads and working to ensure effective return to measurement.

+ Ensures patient safety at all times by notifying the charge nurse of any risk factors seen initiating and maintaining appropriate safety measures as outlined in policies and procedures.

+ Inputs clinical documentation and charges into electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) tool

+ Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the Monitor Technician orientation/skills checklist, which includes an annual EKG competency test.

Required

+ High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

+ Experience working in a healthcare setting.

+ Experience working with EPIC EMR.

+ Experience or training with medical terminology.
