    Job Summary

    Department: Health Information Management

     

    Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm, every other weekend and rotating holidays

     

    Preferred Experience: Working knowledge of medical record document types, scanning, EPIC EHR and/or Hyland OnBase scanning application systems

     

    Employment Type: Full time with benefits

    What You'll Do:

    + Develop, implement, maintain, and monitor information management standards and systems to support accurate and secure patient records.

    + Support all on-site Health Information Management (HIM) workflows within acute care settings, ensuring seamless departmental operations.

    + Handle department phone coverage, record retrieval and ordering from off-site vendors, and discharge unit rounding.

    + Deliver professional customer service to callers and visitors of the HIM department, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.

    + Assess, prep, scan, and index medical documents into electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including HIMSS7 unit scanning.

    + Conduct quality analysis of scanned paper medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness in EMR systems.

    + Perform on-site release of information (ROI) tasks for walk-in requests, continuity of care, and incoming mail.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve workflow-related issues and maintain efficient departmental operations.

    + Adapt to additional HIM responsibilities as needed to support dynamic healthcare environments.

    + EMR Specialists may be assigned additional on-site HIM duties as necessary in order to maintain fluid departmental operations.

    + Team member will also foster working relationships with other departments to ensure timely resolution related to any issues within these workflows.

    Qualifications

    + Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred.

    + Experience: Minimum three years equivalent work experience with similar work assignments roles, and responsibilities or RHIT/RHIA in lieu of experience equivalent work experience. Internal Candidates: A combination of the above qualifications and proven success will be considered within HIM leader discretion, required.

    + Licensure/Certification: RHIT, preferred.

    + Additional Skills (required): Must possess excellent analytical skills and customer service skills. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Must have the ability to multitask and work independently with limited supervision. Must be able to meet standardized productivity metrics/goals. Should have a strong working knowledge of HIPAA requirements. Must be comfortable in a computer-based workflow. Must have a working knowledge and/or familiarity with acute care medical records and hospital regulatory environment. Ability to drive/travel to multiple locations/facilities as needed.

    + Additional Skills (preferred): Experience with the EPIC EHR and/or Hyland On Base scanning application.
