+ Shift: Nights either 5'8s (11pm to 730am) or 4-10's (9pm to 730am)

+ This laboratory matches potential organ donors with patients in need of a transplant
+ All of the training would be done M-F during the day with training taking 4-6 months
+ Holiday rotation, typically 1 per year

Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Performs specimen processing of human biological material for specialized high complexity molecular and histocompatibility testing which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, instrument maintenance, and the ability to understand and communicate scientific principles related to molecular biology including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, SSO, SSP, sequencing, antibody test analysis, and crossmatch interpretation. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good laboratory practice.
Responsibilities
+ Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on complex and sensitive molecular equipment with an emphasis on clean technique. Operates complex molecular instrumentation for the purposes of patient testing, calibration, and validation of the quality of the assay. Delivers precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Uses understanding of molecular biology to troubleshoot QC, abnormal patient results, and instrumentation. Identifies root cause and makes suggestions for short and long-term solutions, as necessary.
+ Adheres to strict quality assurance practices in order to maintain the highly sensitive environment required for molecular testing techniques. Prepares stock solutions and reagents following standard operating procedures and quality control procedures. Conducts quality control testing of solutions and reagents and records results accordingly. Analyzes quality control data for trends and identifies deviations from the accepted standard.
+ Ensures testing is ordered and billed correctly. Maintains records for batch testing to include patient information, controls, quality indicators, lot numbers, and details on any manual sample manipulation conducted. Provides laboratory testing services for a robust transplant program. Manages the primary data analysis and interpretation of analytically complex transplant patients and quality control test results. Records results through the laboratory computer system accurately and in a timely fashion. Reviews patient testing runs ensuring data is of the appropriate quality and controls perform as expected. Issues patient reports and communicates any potential assay performance issues to management. Communicates results, verbally and electronically, to transplant physicians and coordinators.
+ Identifies the opportunity for performance improvement activities. Leads new assay validations, both FDA approved assays and Laboratory Developed Tests, to include data analysis, troubleshooting, assay optimization, and drafting validation documentation and new testing procedures.
+ Provides training for new laboratory personnel, students, residents, and fellows in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area. Communicates with nurses, clinicians, residents, and fellows as it relates to in-house and send-out testing practices. Clarifies testing questions including specimen type, stability, performing laboratory, and methodology. Oversees hands-on laboratory work for residents and fellows and provides guidance on data analysis and patient resulting. Performs testing for deceased donor transplantation including the preparation of virtual crossmatch forms. Enters HLA data into numerous solid organ and stem cell registries to facilitate transplantation.
