Description
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing union payroll, reports, and government taxes. Supports the day to day functions of the payroll team.
+ Coordinate with field management staff to collect union new hire paperwork. Ensure information is complete and accurate. Follow up on any issues or missing information.
+ Create union employee record in ERP system, updating employment data or status changes. Ensure severance, termination, and disciplinary forms are reflected appropriately.
+ Review field time entry reports for potential errors in hours, union, pay class, and per diem. Follow up with site teams and address as appropriate prior to payroll processing.
+ Process weekly union payroll and off-cycle checks in a timely manner by importing time details and validating entries created. Confirm calculation of earnings, deductions, garnishments, union liabilities, and taxes. Ensure paychecks are distributed on time.
+ Prepare monthly union remittances. Using system reports, calculate amounts and submit payment requests, ensuring reconciliation between liabilities accrued and payments. Match payments with labor details and remit to appropriate funds.
+ Prepare reports, check for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies as part of business recordkeeping and compliance activities.
+ Respond to and resolve any union employee payroll inquiries.
+ Process employment verifications and unemployment claims by deadline outlined. Escalate unemployment hearing notices to Human Resources.
+ Submit new hire reports to state agencies.
+ Process child support and other court orders as necessary.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of payroll experience required.
+ Experience processing construction payroll preferred.
+ Experience with Oracle or other large software vendors preferred.
+ Must have excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Ability to use Excel to manipulate and analyze data.
