Job Overview:
Microscopic examination of Non-Gynecologic specimens and Gynecologic specimens for the detection of malignancy change, Atypical/Pre-cancerous conditions, inflammatory/reactive and or/other benign conditions. Performs all related Quality Assurance Tasks as required by regulatory agency standard. Performs tasks done by the Cyto-preparatory technician in his / her absence.
Assumes responsibility for supervision of Cyto-preparatory technician in the absence of a general supervisor.
Qualification
Meet education and experience equivalent to the guidelines mandated by Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) and the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Service Laws (NJSDHSS). Bachelor of science in Biology/Medical Technology (BSMT). Graduated from an accredited School of Cytotechnology program. Certification by category I Agency American Society of Clinical Pathologist. CT(ASCP) and successful completion of all orientation.

Essential Functions:
+ Compiles and follow with hospital on all safety standard, infection control, fire safety, universal of standard precaution, right to know, bio-hazardous waste procedures as required by regulatory agencies.
+ Demonstrates proficiency by receiving acceptable performance result on internal CAP, ASCP and annual (CMS) Gyn-PT.
+ Must have good computer skill and knowledge. Able to access patient s clinical data, retrieval previous diagnostic information on LIS/Co-path computer
+ Operates automated laboratory instruments including Daily and weekly PM records and QA documentation as regulatory agency standard.
+ Performs all manual technical procedures relating to specimen type, specimen preparation, Thin-prep slide(s), manual smear(s) preparation, cell-block, cover-slipping and labeling of slide(s)
+ Responsible for proper documentation of specimen criteria of acceptability, deciding when to repeat testing to check results, proper documentation of result
+ Responsible for the ID of patients and specimens in compliance with all hospital and regulatory standard well organize work flow, good reasoning ability and able to meet deadlines. Responsible for accurate cytologic interpretation of the tests. Record of documentation, and LIS patient results entry.
