Job Description:

**Reports to:** Team Lead

**Purpose of the Position:** The Associate Engineering Operator role will serve as primary support to the engineering operator within the automation cell at PGH. The position will primarily be responsible for packing various types of products and supporting the daily operation of numerous automated packaging machines. This position will understand key requirements of the automation operation and be able to support in minor troubleshooting and other problem-solving tasks. Additionally, they are cross trained to work in all manual packing areas of the operation. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced and hands on environment and has a general set of technical skills with desires to develop them.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

+ Package orders accurately, safely and with quality within the automation cell.

+ Verify own work is completed accurately and to quality standards.

+ Monitor component levels and reload machines as necessary.

+ Assist with machine changeovers.

+ Troubleshoot minor machine issues and clear faults to maintain machine performance.

+ Close and wrap pallets of finished goods.

+ Assist with other daily duties in the automation cell.

+ Be educated on common quality issues and be able to confidently make decisions.

+ Requests are completed with a positive attitude.

+ May be assigned special projects or other duties including packing in other work centers.

Skills & Qualifications:

+ All skills & qualifications of Packer position.

+ Completion of General PGH Automation training.

+ Good communication skills to work effectively with team members and supervisors.

+ Have general technical skills with a demonstrated interest in growing them.

+ Possess necessary computer skills to utilize required systems.

+ Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis skills.

+ Knowledge and training in the use of powered pallet jacks.

+ Ability to think independently, work without direction, and make decisions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

+ Frequently lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds

+ Engage in frequent bending, crouching, twisting, and reaching

+ Prolonged standing or sitting for the duration of the shift

+ Must be comfortable performing repetitive tasks.

+ Ability to work effectively in a non-temperature-controlled facility, enduring warm conditions in the summer and cold conditions in the winter.

+ Employees will be required to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

**Education/Experience requirements:** 2+ years of experience within PGH Operation, or previous relevant experience. High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Previous production, assembly or packaging related experience preferred.
