    Duties and Responsibilities

    Job Summary:

    The Coordinator of Student Wellness reports to the Social Worker at Arrupe College of Loyola University Chicago and serves within the Office of Student Services. The Coordinator for Student Wellness is responsible for offering mental health counseling, wellness programming, peer support groups, and referral services. The Coordinator will assist in proactive outreach to students to aid in retention efforts. The role contributes to a culture of care that integrates wellness with the Jesuit mission of holistic education.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Mental Health Counseling. The Jesuit regent would offer individual counseling and mental health support, particularly focused on students facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and other psychosocial stressors.

     

    Provides short- and long-term therapy to students who are currently enrolled at Arrupe College and who have transferred from Arrupe College into a bachelor’s degree program at Loyola University Chicago.

     

    Provides psycho-social assessment and diagnosis of behavioral and clinical impairments, with recommendations and/or environmental manipulations at the school, home, and/or in the community with periodic re-evaluations.

     

    Support wellness programming and peer support groups.

     

    Collaborate with Loyola’s Wellness Center for referrals and training.

     

    Contribute to a culture of care grounded in Ignatian spirituality and psychological insight.

     

    Student Success Support. The Jesuit would contribute to the Office of Student Success, a cross-functional team focused on student persistence and holistic development.

     

    Provides short- and long-term case management support to Arrupe College students regarding non-academic issues of concern.

     

    Assist in proactive outreach to students experiencing academic or personal challenges.

     

    Collaborate with faculty, advisers, and student services staff on retention initiatives.

     

    Provide formation for staff and faculty in trauma-informed and culturally responsive care.

     

    Instructor: A Journey in the Spirit of Ignatius : The Jesuit would teach a 1-credit sophomore seminar titled A Journey in the Spirit of Ignatius.

     

    This course invites students to engage in reflective practices grounded in Ignatian spirituality.

     

    Students explore personal values, accomplishments, and future academic, professional, and personal goals.

     

    The seminar provides a structured opportunity for discernment at a pivotal moment in students’ college journey

     

    Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

     

    Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred in counseling or related field

     

    Experience providing individual and/or group counseling with emerging adults

     

    Experience working with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion

     

    Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
