    Job Summary:

    Serves as a subject matter expert for research of governmental rules/regulations and policies related to Revenue Cycle ambulatory and acute coding and billing. Develops educational materials to cascade updates to the appropriate department to ensure operations are aware and understand how changes impact their operations. Responsible for performing in-depth analysis of proposed and final rules to ensure Revenue Cycle departments are aware and informed with changes to support operational compliance.

    Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Identifies and evaluates emerging compliance, coding, and financial risks. Utilizes regulatory guidance, resources, and data analytics on an ongoing basis to educate and implement leading regulatory compliant practices.

    + Serves as main contact for Medicare Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS), Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS), State Medicare rules and any other documented policies related to Revenue Cycle billing and coding.

    + Uses current practices to identify areas of risk related to guidelines.

    + Develops informative educational materials for any changes and/or updates.

    + Provides updates on proposed rules and assesses the impact on operations current state with support from operational leaders.

    + Researches, analyzes, and depicts details from governmental and state regulatory documents that are of interest to the Revenue Cycle.

    + Performs ad hoc research related to billing and coding questions.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION

    + Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and education

    EXPERIENCE

    + Three years' experience

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    + Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

    + Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

    + Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

    + Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

    + Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

    + Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

    + Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

    + Rare climbing.
