    _A public health-focused environmental laboratory is seeking highly motivated individuals to assist with air quality monitoring and research. This role supports efforts to measure environmental pollutants such as smoke and ash, with an emphasis on both fieldwork and laboratory analysis._

     

    **Title:** Environmental Chemist – Air Quality Focus

    **Location:** Oakland, CA

    **Pay rate:** $35- $45/hr.

    **Job type:** 8-month contract (possibility of extension)

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Assist with air sampling and air quality monitoring in various settings

    + Operate, calibrate, and maintain scientific instruments and air samplers

    + Perform laboratory analyses using techniques such as:

    + Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)

    + Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)

    + Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)

    + Conduct literature reviews to support scientific research

    + Maintain lab cleanliness, equipment organization, and inventory

    + Support setup and operation of instruments in a mobile laboratory

    Qualifications:

    + Experience operating GC-MS, ICP, or SEM

    + Prior experience in the environmental science industry

    + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

    + Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

    + Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

    + Previous experience with laboratory instrumentation or environmental sampling is a plus
