    Job Summary:

    Coordinates and distributes patients radiology images.

     

    .

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Coordinates and distributes patient's radiology images.

    + Files, images and film file jackets are prepared and maintained accurately with previous patient records utilizing terminal digit filing.

    + Missing information in image file is recorded and supervisor notified of status.

    + Initiates and follows through with tracking missing images to point of acquisition, documents transmission of these images to PACS and follows through with notification of person.

    + Requesting image, that images are available in PACS.

    + Knowledgeable of location of files at satellite operations.

    + Demonstrates and maintains proficiency in use of hospital equipment and systems.

    + IDXrad Versions 9-10 is/are utilized to track patient images, records and exams.

    + Resets, loads film and calls for service for laser printers as needed.

    + Operates film digitizers, Cd burners and laser printers.

    + Resets Reloads and changes toner on paper printers.

    + Bar-coders and tracking system are used appropriately and accurately.

    + Reports are read via voice to clinicians following hospital policy. Reports are faxed via IDXrad or conventional fax machines to clinicians.

    + Efficiently utilizes Star Panel, Medipac, and Hyperspace.

    + Troubleshoots, supports and resolves issues with IDXrad equipment. Troubleshoots, supports and resolves issues with dictation equipment, and voice recognition.

    + Generates reports designed to track images from acquisition to PACS and interacts with managers in tracking these images.

    + Demonstrates and maintains proficient use of PACS and PAC web.

    + Performs image query and retrieval. Performs the functions of image display.

    + Resolves broken, combined and misidentified studies. Transmits electronic images as needed

    + Trains and assists physicians and staff as needed. Performs Radiology Help Desk functions as assigned.

    + Creates and imports images. Formats and prints film from PACS.

    + Digitizes and stores outside films. Assures Film Room procedures are followed.

    + Terminal digit numeric filing system guidelines are followed.

    + Processes requests for image release and follows retrieval procedures.

    + Film release procedures are followed per department and HIPPA guidelines.

    + Images/Films/Folders are loaned to physicians, healthcare workers, and patients according to department procedures.

    + Policy on receiving and returning outside films is explained accurately.

    + Policy on records retention and film purging is explained accurately.

    + Films are duplicated upon request in a timely manner.

    + Appropriate charges for duplicating are completed as necessary.

    + Procedures for sequestered files are explained accurately.

    + Formats and prints film for release to patients, outside physicians and attorneys.

    + Uses proper means of delivery.

    + Attaches proper charges for film copies or CDs.

    + May assumes a leadership role in absence of supervisor.

    + Customer and staff problems are resolved following department protocol.

    + Assures work areas are covered when absence of other staff members are unplanned. Seeks instruction from supervisor in cases such as this.

    + Orientation and training for new staff members are conducted as directed.
