    Job Summary

    Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasound imaging equipment in various modes and techniques, to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological,

     

    and functional research data from animal models. Schedules and coordinates tests, prepares and maintains operational logs and records test results in laboratory setting. Maintains and calibrates

     

    equipment, and orders necessary supplies.

    Responsibilities*

    + Interpretation and analysis of images, region of interest measurements for cardiac function, measurement of vessel walls and blood flow, application of quality assurance measures to ensure data integrity, tabulate data, provide explanation to study team, image and data preparation for publication purposes.

    + Specialty imaging of large and small animals including animal prep, delivery and monitoring of anesthesia, perform scanning techniques and protocols to meet protocol requirements including specialty cardiac imaging, gated imaging, vascular imaging.

    + Doppler, 2D and 3D techniques, intra-ventricular injections, needle guidance for biopsy or needle placement, tumor imaging and animal fetus and umbilical cord blood flowimaging, and imaging for quality assurance of surgical procedures.

    + Development of novel techniques to support core services including background research on techniques, development of new scanning protocols, perfection of scanning technique, image analysis and data validation.

    + Training undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and university faculty and staff in state-of-the-art ultrasound imaging techniques of research animals, through a mixture of didactic lecture, maintaining written documentation of protocols and tips, and hands-on training activities.

    + Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements from UCUCA, ULAM, USDA, OSEH and other regulatory bodies as required by State, Federal and University policies.

    + Billing, scheduling, storage of image files, correspondence with investigators and other administrative tasks related to echo core services.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Ability to work with minimal supervision with diverse teams of people in a diplomatic, collaborative and effective manner.

    + Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.

    + Exceptional organizational and computer skills are required with proficiency in Microsoft software applications.

    + Ability to multi-task, work well under time constraints and meet deadlines.

    + Demonstration of commitment to FCVC Core Values.

    Senior level:

    + Bachelors Degree.

    + Minimum 5 years of related experience in animal research including using live imaging modalities OR clinical ultrasound imaging and willingness to apply similar approaches to animals.

    Intermediate level:

    + Bachelors Degree.

    + Minimum 4 years of related experience in animal research including using live imaging modalities OR clinical ultrasound imaging and willingness to apply similar approaches to animals.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Evidence of training activities and experience in rodent ultrasound imaging and animal handling is desired.

    + The ability to produce quality ultrasound data as demonstrated by previous peer-reviewed publications are also desired and will be strongly considered as evidence of experience and quality of prior work.

    Background Screening
