CAH-Nursing Informatics – Clinical informatics– Full Time Day Shift – Req 8578
Pay Grade: $36.54-$48.41*
Position Summary
The Clinical Informaticist acts as a liaison between clinical staff and IT teams to drive the effective design, implementation, optimization, and adoption of health information systems (HIS), electronic health records (EHRs), and ancillary clinical applications. In this role, you will support three primary EHR platforms—Thrive EHR, Medent, and T-Systems—as well as various ancillary systems, to enhance clinical workflows, improve patient care quality, and ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
+ System Implementation & Optimization: Lead planning, testing, configuration, and go-live support for EHR and Ancillary clinical software; coordinate upgrades and new module rollouts with minimal disruption to clinical operations.
+ Workflow Analysis & Redesign: Collaborate with nursing, medical, pharmacy, and ancillary departments to map current workflows; identify opportunities for redesign to leverage EHR capabilities and decision-support tools.
+ Clinical Content Management: Develop and maintain clinical documentation templates, order sets, care plans, and decision-support rules in alignment with evidence-based practice and regulatory standards.
+ User Training & Support: Create and deliver both onsite and virtual training programs for new hires and existing staff; provide ongoing super-user support to troubleshoot issues and coach end users.
+ Data Quality & Reporting: Monitor data integrity and completeness; generate and analyze reports to inform leadership of performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
+ Change & Project Management: Facilitate change-management initiatives; develop implementation timelines, communication plans, and stakeholder engagement strategies; escalate risks and develop mitigation plans as needed.
+ Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Serve as subject-matter expert on clinical informatics projects; partner with IT analysts, developers, and external vendors to translate clinical requirements into functional specifications.
+ Regulatory Compliance: Stay current on HIPAA, Meaningful Use, Joint Commission, and other healthcare regulations; ensure system configurations and workflows meet applicable standards.
+ On-Call Support: After sufficient training and experience, participate in a scheduled on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for clinical applications and urgent system issues. On-call duties are compensated in accordance with hospital policy.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field – or equivalent clinical/IT experience.
+ Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience in clinical practice, health informatics, EHR implementation, or healthcare IT support.
Licensure & Certification
+ Current clinical license (RN, LPN, allied health) preferred but not required; non-licensed candidates with strong IT/informatics background encouraged to apply.
+ Certification in clinical informatics (e.g., RN-BC, CPHIMS, CHDA) preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
+ Deep understanding of clinical workflows, patient care processes, and healthcare terminology (HL7, SNOMED, LOINC, ICD-10).
+ Proficiency with one or more EHR platforms—ideally Thrive, Medent, or T-Systems.
+ Strong project management and change-management abilities.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts for clinical audiences.
+ Analytical problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and data integrity.
+ Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed for on-call support.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
+ Office-based with frequent travel to clinical units and occasional remote support.
+ Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and to move between hospital departments.
