    **Department:** Surgery Outpatient Plastic Administration

    **Location:** Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine - 3400 Civic Center Blvd

    **Hours:** Mon-Fri office hours per department needs

    Summary:

    + The Clinical Manager is responsible for the consistent and comprehensive patient care delivery in the ambulatory practice setting. The Clinical Manager is responsible for maintaining the highest level of patient/customer satisfaction, education and patient confidentiality. The Clinical Manager demonstrates that employee and partner satisfaction is a precursor to patient satisfaction. The Clinical Manager is responsible for continually assessing the clinical care team to ensure quality, compliance with governmental agencies and patient access.

    + Typical scope for this role is: 10+ = # of staff directly and indirectly managed 15,000+ = # of budgeted annual visits

    + Complexity Factors (may involve a few of the following factors of practice complexity): multiple practice locations, high practice/facility square footage, service line oversight, coordination of inpatient services, coordination of care across several departments/entities, academic involvement (research initiatives, resident program), special clinical programs, multiple clinical specialties, complex regulatory requirements, management of external partnerships/collaborations.

    + Leverages knowledge for competitive advantage and developing team members through the application of Penn Medicine research, continuous improvement, performance management, and competency development.

    + Responsible for staff development activities including but not limited to team professional development, recruitment, and retention.

    + Oversees clinical operations in the practice/division/department: Collaborates on budgeting and billing practices (where applicable).

    + Establishes/updates work processes and work practices.

    + Manages schedules, pay practices, and timecard review and approval.

    + Maintains clinical practice and/or performs clinical duties to maintain workflows and adequate staffing levels.

    + Manages clinical projects. Participates in strategic and operational planning.

    + Maintains regulatory compliance (TJC, CMS, DOH, OSHA) Maintains a focus on Quality and Safety priorities including but not limited to the application of a quality improvement framework (i.e., FOCUS-PDSA) and High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles.

    + Supports excellence in patient care and service recovery initiatives

    + Manages appropriate safety event review and follow-up.

    + Change Management: Provides support to entity and practice leadership to proactively develop change management strategies for major organizational and practice activities and events.

    + Implements change management strategy within the practice in alignment with entity/Penn Medicine objectives.

    + Implements communication plans effectively. Ensure appropriate follow-up of major clinical/practice issues.

    + Manage crisis and routine communications through the practice/community.

    + Understands system-wide policy changes and impact on employees.

    + Uses proactive communication and feedback tools to manage implementation.

    + Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.

    + Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

    Education, Experience, and Credentials:

    + Master of Arts or Science (Required)

    + And 5+ years total clinical experience including Physician Assistant and prior leadership experience (Required)

    + Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)

    + Certified Physician Assistant (Required)
