The Division of Student Affairs at SUNY Oneonta is committed to creating a campus environment where students feel safe, supported, and empowered to thrive. Within the division, the Office of Student Care & Wellbeing plays a central role in promoting student wellness and success. The office supports students experiencing personal, academic, medical, financial, or behavioral challenges. It also provides outreach when students come to the attention of the campus community due to concerns such as basic needs insecurity, health issues, family crises, or other disruptions to their wellbeing. Staff assist students in navigating campus systems, advocating for themselves, such as requesting a leave of absence or communicating with faculty, and connecting with both on-campus services and community resources.

SUNY Oneonta is seeking an Associate Director of Health Promotions and Student Care to join The Office of Student Care and Wellbeing team. The Associate Director of Health Promotions and Student Care will take on a leadership role within this office, directly supporting students while also coordinating case management and outreach functions. This position is responsible for facilitating the Students of Concern process, providing consultation to campus partners, and developing wellness-related programming in collaboration with departments across campus. The Associate Director will also lead training initiatives that strengthen the institution's capacity to promote student wellbeing and success.

This full-time position reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students and the Vice President of Student Affairs. This role may also require occasional evening or weekend hours to respond to student needs.

Duties include but are not limited to:

+ Leadership & Supervision: Provide vision and leadership for Basic Needs programs (Emergency Funding, Food Pantry, SNAP, Housing Insecurity), Health Promotions, and Student Outreach; supervise staff and students.

+ Students of Concern: Facilitate the Students of Concern process and provide consultation to campus partners on student care matters.

+ Program Development: Design and implement health promotion programs using evidence-based practices and principles of health equity, addressing stress management, mental health awareness, and substance use prevention.

+ Campus Partnerships: Collaborate with university leadership and campus offices to integrate wellness priorities into institutional strategy and identify students in need.

+ Community Partnerships: Establish relationships with off-campus partners to expand student resources and bring services directly to campus.

+ Training & Outreach: Provide training to faculty/staff on supporting students and implement outreach to increase awareness of campus resources and normalize help-seeking behaviors.

+ Assessment & Policy: Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness using data to improve strategies; develop policies and procedures for the Office of Student Care and Wellness.

+ Compliance: Ensure all programs comply with FERPA, HIPAA, and applicable laws regarding privacy, student rights, and non-discrimination.

+ Budget Management: Oversee program budgets, ensure responsible fund allocation, and seek external funding opportunities including grants and partnerships.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Master's degree in public health, health promotion, health education, social work, counseling, or related field.

+ Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH) or CHES/CPH Eligible.

+ Three years of experience in health promotion or related field.

+ Three years of professional supervisory experience.

+ Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

+ Proven experience in managing teams, budget oversight, and program development.

+ Strong understanding of health promotions, student mental health issues, crisis intervention strategies, and wellness programming.

+ Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and diverse environment, especially with a highly creative student population.

Preferred:

+ Experience with SUNY Sexual & Interpersonal Violence Prevention And Response Course (SPARC) or related technology.

+ Clery Knowledge and Experience.

+ Assessment and evaluation experience.

+ Developing and facilitating outreach programs experience.

+ Experience in program development and administration.

+ Experience with problem resolution.
