TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE II, MICROSCOPY, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Microscopy Core Facility (KIMCF), to provide support for a microscopy satellite facility; be trained and supervised by the KIMCF Director to staff the biology satellite core facility independently; consult, train, and support users in microscope operation and techniques, including data quality, data management, and image analysis; assess equipment needs, perform routine quality controls, and schedule maintenance and repairs of equipment; prepare, review, and revise written training materials, policies, and protocols; formulate research methods and analyze, synthesize, interpret, and document experimental results; report on progress and issues at internal and external meetings; ensure compliance with safety through a deep understanding of standards/procedures; may serve as EHS representative; and perform other related duties as required, including work performed at lower levels, when necessary. The KIMCF serves approximately 90 groups engaged in cancer and other research across campus.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s in biological, physical sciences, engineering, or a related field; a minimum of four years of experience in a research laboratory environment including some microscopy (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); self-motivation and demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team; attention to detail, excellent organizational, analytical, customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; and a deep understanding of laboratory safety. PREFERRED: Master's degree; experience in one or more advanced microscopy methods such as super-resolution, single-molecule imaging, FRET/FLIM, or high-content imaging; and working knowledge of common programming and data/image science tools such as Python, Java, JavaScript, and/or Docker.
