The Benefits team designs and implements the organization's benefit programs and activities so they meet the organization's objectives with regard to internal equity and external market competitiveness. These programs may include pension plans and life, health, and disability insurance.
This role in summary
Whirlpool Corporation is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a critical Senior Global Benefits Manager role located at our Global Headquarters in Benton Harbor, Michigan. This role is a 5-day, in-office role. The Senior Global Benefits Manager is responsible for the strategic design and oversight of our global benefit offerings, policies, processes, and governance. This role ensures worldwide compliance, strategic alignment, and the agility to meet evolving business needs and to attract and retain talent. Key focus areas include global benefits management, retirement plans, and leave policies, requiring a deep understanding of international benefit trends and regulatory compliance. \#LI-DD1
Your responsibilities will include
+ **Global Benefits Management (GBM):**
+ Lead the design, development, and implementation of global (non-US) benefits strategies and programs, ensuring alignment with the organization's overall total rewards philosophy and business objectives.
+ Manage relationships with global benefits brokers, consultants, and vendors to ensure competitive offerings, cost-effectiveness, and high-quality service delivery.
+ Partner with regional HR leaders to ensure the benefits program is competitive, cost-effective, and compliant with local laws and regulations across all global regions.
+ Oversee the governance and compliance of all global benefit plans, ensuring adherence to local regulations, legal requirements, and best practices in each operating country.
+ Develop and manage global benefits budgets, track expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost containment and optimization.
+ **Retirement Benefits:**
+ Drive the strategy, design, and administration of global retirement programs (e.g., 401(k), defined benefit plans, pension plans, statutory retirement schemes) to ensure their competitiveness, compliance, and financial health.
+ Manage relationships with retirement plan vendors and consultants.
+ Ensure all retirement plans comply with ERISA regulations (for U.S. plans) and relevant international regulations.
+ Oversee regular reviews of retirement plan investment performance and make recommendations to fiduciary committees.
+ Develop and deliver effective employee communication and education on retirement benefits to enhance understanding and engagement.
+ **Leave Strategy & Administration:**
+ Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive global leave strategy, including paid time off (PTO), sick leave, parental leave, FMLA, and other statutory or company-specific leave programs.
+ Ensure leave policies are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations across all operating regions.
+ Partner with HR operations and payroll teams to ensure accurate and timely leave administration and record-keeping.
+ Evaluate existing leave programs for effectiveness, competitiveness, and employee experience, recommending enhancements as needed.
+ Develop clear and concise leave policies and communication materials for employees and managers.
+ **General Benefits Support:**
+ Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic advisor on all benefits-related matters.
+ Develop and maintain robust benefits communication strategies to ensure employees understand and value their benefits.
+ Stay abreast of emerging trends, legislative changes, and innovations in the global benefits landscape.
+ Participate in due diligence for M&A activities related to benefits integration as needed.
+ Conduct audits of benefit programs to ensure compliance.
Minimum requirements
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, or related field
+ 5+ years of experience in benefits
Preferred skills and experiences
+ Bachelor's and Master’s Degrees in Business, Finance, Human Resources, or related field
+ Exceptional communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
+ 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits management, with significant experience in global benefits management.
+ Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state leave laws (e.g., FMLA) and experience navigating international leave regulations.
+ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, multiple priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced global environment.
+ Experience in the implementation of benefit programs and processes, including communication of such programs
+ Proven expertise in the design, administration, and compliance of various retirement plans (e.g., 401(k), defined benefit plans).
+ Demonstrated effectiveness in the delivery of global benefits management
+ Demonstrated ability to influence and drive results within all levels of the organization
+ Experience with vendor evaluation, selection, and vendor management
