    POSITION DETAILS

    The University Admissions Office is composed of two offices, the CUNY Welcome Center and the University Application Processing Center. The CUNY Welcome Center is the central student recruiting office for the City University of New York (CUNY). The Welcome Center's primary responsibility is to disseminate information aboutall thecolleges to prospective students. Through extensive outreach efforts and in-house counseling, the staffprovidessupport and guidance to prospective students. Staff members of the Welcome Center work closely with the University Application Processing Center (UAPC)staffto support the University's recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts.

     

    The University Processing Center (UAPC), located on the Kingsborough Community College campus in Brooklyn, NY, is responsible for receiving, evaluating, and processing all undergraduate applications for degree-seeking applicants to all the colleges of the City University of New York.

     

    Reporting to the University Director of Recruitment or their designee, the University Admissions Advisor plays a key role in supporting prospective students and advancing CUNY’s recruitment, admissions, and enrollment strategies. This role ensures exceptional service, efficient application processing, and impactful outreach within an assigned recruitment territory.

    In addition to the duties in the CUNY Title Overview, additional duties include, but are not limited to:

    + Cultivate and sustain relationships with high schools, community colleges, counselors, community-based organizations, and other external partners within a defined recruitment territory.

    + Represent CUNY at outreach events, including high school visits, college fairs, and community engagement sessions.

    + Facilitates student recruiting activities, including coordinating and contributing to Information Sessions and outreach events at high schools, colleges, and other community offerings.

    + Provide individualized advisement to prospective students regarding application processes and admissions requirements while ensuring applicants receive excellent customer service.

    + Performs analytical and administrative duties to accurately review undergraduate admissions applications and evaluate domestic and international high school and college academic records.

    + Prepare applicant files for review and forward them to CUNY colleges.

    + Participates in implementing CUNY’s recruitment plans and programs to identify, attract, admit, andenrolla qualified and diverse student body.

    + Support daily front-line operations, including responding to high-volume phone and email inquiries.

    + Maintain accurate databases of contacts, outreach interactions, and applicant follow-up actions.

    + Coordinate the preparation and distribution of promotional and recruitment materials.

    + Ensure timely and consistent communication with applicants to promote successful application completion.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    NOTES:

    1. Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

    2. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule with some evenings and weekends, and travel to the five boroughs in New York City and/or the tri-state area for recruitment related activities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    MINIMUM

    Bachelor’sdegreerequired.

    PREFERRED

    + Two years of related experience in admissions, recruitment, student services, or customer service centric role preferred.

    + Commitment to customer service excellence; responsiveness and professionalism to work and interact with diverse internal and external stakeholders of various organizational levels.

    + Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills withabilityto make presentations and lead small group discussions.

    + Strong analytical, evaluative, research, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

    + Detail oriented and accurate with strong organizational skills to establish plans, manage multiple assignments with conflicting priorities, and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive office.

    + Knowledge of practices and technologies used in college admissions, recruiting, and enrollment services.

    + Multi-lingual skills preferred (French, Spanish, Mandarin, or Russian).

    + Valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation preferred.

    + Proficiencyusing computers, standard office, and e-mail/scheduling programs.

    CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

    Participates in implementing CUNY's recruitment plans and programs in support of a strategy to identify, attract, admit and enroll a highly-qualified and diverse student body.

     

    - Demonstrates and maintains knowledge of CUNY's programs and degree requirements

     

    - Coordinates workshops, intake screenings, interviews and new student orientation

     

    - Counsels prospective applicants on requirements and standards and provides general program and service information in person or by telephone, e-mail or letter; follows up as needed

     

    - Coordinates and contributes to student recruiting activities such as group sessions and programs, direct recruiting, and outreach events at high schools and in the community

     

    - Represents the University Admissions Office to the CUNY Colleges' internal and external communities

     

    - Performs related duties as assigned.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    The salary range is **$54,268 - $60,394** commensurate with credentials, education, and experience.

     

    CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
